Configure GPIO for ON AIR LIGHT

Post by AXIA_milos »

To configure a GPIO port to provide a closure which will trigger the ON AIR light, one can reference he Element manual and look at the chapter that covers GPIO. There you will find some tables. Look for the table that is for the Control Room (CR) monitor logic. In this table you will observe that OUT-1 is CR Mute. So anytime the Monitor speakers mute, there will be continuity with this pin and the common out pin. With this bit of knowledge, now navigate to the Element configuration page.
Select a show profile.
Select the monitor section link.
Under the heading of "Control Room Monitor Options", you will see a "GPIO channel for CR monitor:" property. Here you are to enter in a number. I suggest using the same channel number that is the CR Monitor channel. The number entered in the field is the number to be applied to the GPIO port that will trigger the ON AIR light.
If you have multiple show profiles, you will want to make sure each show profile has this setting applied.
Also, take note that any changes you make to a Show profile to not take place until you load the show from the Element surface.
