Routing RS232 via Axia GPIO Nodes

Post by clarknovak »

Q: Have you found a way to route RS232 using GPIO nodes?

A: The nodes themselves do not use RS232 but the SA Port Router, which is an application that ships with PathfinederPRO software, can route RS232 data to and from RS232 and TCP. And the route changes can be dynamically changed by Pathfinder as well; for more information, see pages 189 to 200 in the Pathfinder User Manual.

If you do not have PathfinderPRO, there are many devices available that can convert RS232 into GPIO to interface a node (or vice-versa) and pull closures from a node to RS232. One such device is the Hall Research HR-4P, but a Google search will turn up many others.
