That looks a nice piece of kit Richard, especially with its native support for Livewire, but it also looks quite pricey compared with the solution we currently use, which is simply to run standard Skype clients on a PC with the audio and clean feed taken through the PC audio drivers just like any other computer sound source.

I can see for phone-ins using Skype dial-in at the studio end it might make it slightly easier, but presumably for people who dialled into Skype from regular phones the quality would not be much better than using a standard telephone hybrid at the studio, since it will be mostly limited by the microphone in the caller's telephone.

We tend to use Skype only for two-way interviews where we can arrange for the interviewee to use Skype instead of a phone, and then we get the benefit of better audio quality from their computer microphone.

Roughly what does it cost, and what would be the main advantages of using the box for occasional Skype interviews?

Many thanks for the quick reply Richard. Sadly, with our relatively low use of phone-ins the price is way above what I could justify for the marginal gains over our existing solution of POTS hybrid for ordinary calls, and Skype app on PC for Skype originated calls.

For something like taking a live band on air, which is essentially a one-way feed where latency isn't such a big issue we would normally use a conventional streaming solution with free software. Of course it has its limitations, but generally satisfactory for our purposes. Several of our remote-contributed full live shows come in that way.

Thanks for the info though - I'm quite often asked by other stations to suggest solutions, so it's always good to know what options are out there.
