Replacement of Pathfinder PC Server

Post by wrighty.ash »

Hi Everyone

Just after a bit of advice. I need to replace our Pathfinder Server PC to another Windows server. What is the best way of doing this (and transfering all the data with it!)

Install Pathfinder on the new server.

Shut down the software on the old server.

On the old server go to PathfinderServer folder in C:\Program Files. Copy that whole folder. On the new server open up the C:\Program Files\PathfinderServer folder. Copy everything from the old server folder to the new server folder except for the actual PathfinderServer.exe and the cluster.xml file. If you copy those files as well, it will probably be ok, but if your new install is a later version than your old install you would be overwriting the new executable. The cluster.xml file holds IP addressing that is based on the old server IP address, so you either need to change these cluster settings to match the new IP addresses - or if you are not running a cluster, just delete the cluster.xml file on the new server and it will get recreated when you start Pathfinder Server for the first time.

Start the server software on the new server and enter your license key. Shut it down and start it again after applying the license.

That's all there is to it.
